Finally Portscan, the essential network utility is now available for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Portscan allows you to search a network host for open ports/running services. This app uses TCP connect() to scan, because everything else would require root privilege.

With Portscan you have a useful computer security tool right in your pocket. A must have for every network/system administrator.

Works with EDGE, 3G and wi-fi.

Features:

* Fast scanning. Adjust speed from aggressive to sneaky.

* For every discovered service you get one cell in a table with port, shortname and the fullname of the service.

* Send scan results via email.

* Use the integrated browser to explore http ports like 80, 8080 and 443 from within the app. (Even while you are scanning)

* Optionally randomize the scan port order.

* Remembers your hosts.

* There is also a feature to guess the operating system.

* Own url scheme.

Pros and cons of Portscan - Security Scanner app for iPhone and iPad

Portscan - Security Scanner app good for

This is a nice, well written program. I use it fairly regular to check my computers for vulnerabilities. The developer is responsive to requests for enhancements.
Developer was quick to answer enquiry, and the app does everything its supposed to do well.
Very handy to do a security check and also useful to do a quick check of ports active on your own server to make sure apps are available. Use one of the default lists or define your own range or list to scan.
I bought this and i really didnt think i will like it, but after using it on a few networks, this app really changed my mind. I love the simplicity of using it and how accurate it is. Whom ever needs a port scan utility, this app wont let you down.
It was awesome it did like it said it would do and it worked greatly
This application does just what it is advertised to do. Worth the price to add this as tool for your iPod or iPhone.

Some bad moments
